What are you telling yourself?

You may have a stigma around feel good quotes, motivational messages, and positive affirmations.

Maybe you think it’s just positivity for positivity sake

Nobody can be THAT positive all the time.

It’s true.

I’m sure even the Dalai Lama can have bouts of negativity.  We’re all human.

But, self talk has more of an impact on our mental AND physical lives than we know.  See more…

Personally, I’ve experienced a time as a very amateur stock trader (not recommended, lol) where I repeatedly told myself “Man, I’m getting beat up!”  This was during a particularly DOWN market.  The next morning I woke up like I’d gone 10 rounds with Muhammed Ali!

You might think this is just anecdotal, and it is, but it’s true none the less.

I felt the affects of my negative self talk, and I’m sure you can recount life experiences where negative thinking had a physical impact.

Ever been in a situation where your stressful thoughts stopped you in your tracks?  Maybe even a panic attack?

When we are in the middle of a challenging situation or stressful time, the mind wants to focus on the problems and the negativity.

Having a handful of goto affirmations or quotes can help you snap out of that spiral and start to focus on solutions.

Find yourself lacking confidence before important events?
Combating negative feelings like frustration or impatience?
Lacking self-esteem?
Lacking motivation to complete a task?

What did you tell yourself in those situations?  Positive or negative?

Did it help?

A positive affirmation can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When you repeat them often, and believe in them, you can start to make positive changes.

You create new pathways, new habits, and new behaviors.

What’s more, the effectiveness of positive self talk is increased when paired with other techniques like Visualization and Goal Setting!

Speaking of Muhammad Ali… he said:

“It is the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes deep conviction, things begin to happen.”
